The Almaguin Highlands Arts Council supports artists and the arts through community advocacy. The Council takes a leadership role in the region and negotiates agreements with a variety of community partners. By working with municipalities, schools, cultural groups and other community partners, the Arts Council is able to offer its members more and create more artistic opportunities. The Arts Council works towards creating an atmosphere where artists, businesses, government agencies, and the general public can appreciate and benefit from the arts.

The Arts Council also works with local artists to identify community needs, then searches for solutions. Through regular contact with other Arts Councils in Ontario and across Canada, the Almaguin Highlands Arts Council stays on the leading edge of information. Changes to the artistic environment and new developments are identified early, and the knowledge, expertise, and experience of artists from all over Canada contribute to a solution.

The Arts Council involves community leaders in decisions and invites their input. It engages key partners and interest groups in the pursuit of mutual benefit for the Almaguin Highlands and its artists.
